Duke Basketball Shares 3-Word Reaction to Syracuse’s Announcement

The Duke Blue Devils notched yet another dominant victory on Wednesday night, taking down the Syracuse Orange with an 83-54 final score at the JMA Wireless Dome.

Jon Scheyer’s Duke squad is ranked No. 2 in the nation, stringing together 16 consecutive victories to improve their record to 20-2. As one of college basketball’s most exciting teams, the Blue Devils have quite a bit of pull when it comes to game attendance.

Wednesday night’s game drew an attendance of 23,313 — marking the nation’s largest attendance for a college basketball game so far this season.

Syracuse announced this historic feat with a social media post. Duke responded to this announcement with a simple three-word message.

“The Duke Effect,” the team wrote on X.

Duke had its balanced offense on full display on Wednesday night, with five Blue Devils finishing in double figures. Veteran guard Tyrese Proctor led the way with 16 points. Freshman phenom Cooper Flagg recorded 11 points and five rebounds.

“Really proud of the collective effort by really everybody in our team stepping up,” Scheyer said during his postgame press conference. “The defense, I thought, was really good overall. I love seeing our guys competing, having fun together, and then just everybody being engaged, which I thought we had really everybody on the team step up in different moments tonight.”
