Malik Nabers is open about his feelings regarding NY Giants draft target Cam Ward
During an appearance on Sirius XM NFL radio, star wide receiver Malik Nabers made his case for the New York Giants to draft Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward. Nabers was drafted by the Giants with the No. 6 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Nabers praised Ward’s arm talent, mobility, ability to overcome adversity and leadership skills. After being a unanimous All-American and First-Team All-SEC playmaker at LSU in 2023, Nabers was named to the Pro Bowl and the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team in 2024.
Nabers had 109 receptions on 170 targets for 1,204 receiving yards with seven touchdowns in 2024. The Giants finished 28th in the NFL with 3,521 passing yards, but seventh in the league with 366 completions. Nabers had 29.78 percent of the Giants’ receptions and 34.19 percent of their receiving yards.
Ward set the Miami single-season records with 4, 313 passing yards, 4, 517 total yards, 39 passing touchdowns and 43 total touchdowns. Miami was No. 1 nationally averaging 43.9 points per game and averaging 537.2 total yards per game. The Hurricanes set team records for passing and total yards in a season in 2024.
Malik Nabers gave Miami QB Cam Ward a glowing review with the NFL Draft coming soon
The Giants need more consistency at QB in 2025 after starting three signal-callers last season and playing four. Daniel Jones was 24-44-1 as the Giants QB in six seasons before being released during the 2024 season. The Giants desperately need stability at QB. Ward is the consensus projected No. 1 overall pick by the NFL Mock Draft Database.
It seems like the Giants would have to trade up to draft Ward. If the Tennessee Titans pass on Ward with the first pick in the NFL Draft, it seems likely he would be selected by the Cleveland Browns second. Quarterback Shadeur Sanders and cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter are likely the biggest competition for Ward being selected first overall.
