Former Tennessee Vols linebacker joins Tennessee Titans front office

The Tennessee Titans continue to improve its front office throughout the offseason by adding former Tennessee Vols linebacker and NFL General Manager Reggie McKenzie.

McKenzie returns to the Volunteer State to assist first-year general manager Mike Borgonzi and assistant general manager Dave Ziegler with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

He played linebacker for the Tennessee Vols from 1981 to 1984 before being drafted by the Los Angeles Raiders in the 10th round of the 1985 NFL Draft. He played five seasons in the NFL before retiring and starting his career in the Green Bay Packers front office.

McKenzie spent 17 years with the Packers, learning the ins and outs of running a successful NFL organization, before becoming the Oakland Raiders’ general manager from 2012 to 2018, where he was recognized as one of the top general managers in the league.

This is a huge hire for the Titans as they look to turn around the franchise with wholesale changes in the front office. McKenzie will serve in a senior scouting role after serving as a Senior Personnel Executive with the Miami Dolphins.

McKenzie’s son and fellow Tennessee Vol, Khalil McKenzie, shared his excitement about his father’s return to Tennessee on social media, saying, “Tennessee’s own is coming home”.

The Titans are proving they are taking the front office rebuild seriously with the addition of McKenzie. He interviewed for the general manager job but didn’t get the call. He will still join the Titans organization regardless as the two-time Super Bowl champion looks to bring the Volunteer State its first professional championship.
