Former Crimson Tide Displays a G-league Virtuoso Performance

A former Crimson Tide put on a display of a performance for the Maine Celtics of the NBA G League last night.
Former Alabama standout JD Davison ecorded a triple-double in just three quarters, leading his team to a win over the Delaware Blue Coats. Davison finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, marking the third triple-double of his G League career.

A consensus five-star recruit, Davison was one of the most electrifying players in Alabama high school history. At Calhoun High School, he was a two-time Alabama Mr. Basketball winner (2020, 2021), averaging 33.4 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 steals per game as a junior. He led his team to back-to-back state championship appearances, hitting a buzzer-beater to win the title in 2020.

At Alabama, Davison played 33 games (six starts) as a freshman, averaging 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He led the team in assists and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. Notable performances included a career-high 20 points against No. 3 Gonzaga and his first career double-double (13 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds) against Miami.

Following his freshman season, Davison declared for the 2022 NBA Draft and was selected 53rd overall by the Boston Celtics. He appeared in 12 games as a rookie, averaging 1.6 points and 0.9 assists in limited minutes.

Transitioning to the G League, Davison quickly became a key player for the Maine Celtics. In the 2022-23 season, he averaged 12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 8.7 assists. This season, he has taken his game to another level, posting 24.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game.
