The Alabama Crimson Tide continues to solidify its standing as a powerhouse in college football recruiting, particularly evident during the recent Junior Day event. This gathering provided an opportunity for the coaching staff to engage with top-tier high school talent, reinforcing existing commitments and making significant strides with priority targets for the 2025 class.

Securing Top Commitments

A highlight of Alabama’s recruiting success is the commitment from Akylin Dear, the No. 2 running back in the 2025 class. Dear, a 6-foot, 205-pound prospect from Quitman, Mississippi, initially committed to Ole Miss before reopening his recruitment. He ultimately chose Alabama over other in-state programs, citing the program’s elite status and the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of great players.

In addition to Dear, Alabama secured a commitment from five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham from Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi. Cunningham, standing at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, is ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver in the 2025 class. He chose Alabama over programs like Auburn, Tennessee, and Florida, attracted by the program’s resources and its track record of developing NFL-caliber receivers.

The quarterback position also received a significant boost with the commitment of Keelon Russell, a four-star dual-threat quarterback from Duncanville, Texas. Russell, who flipped his commitment from SMU to Alabama, is known for his exceptional athleticism and impressive high school record, boasting a 29-1 record over two years. His decision was influenced by the connection he developed with Alabama’s coaching staff and the opportunity to compete at the highest level.

Building a Formidable Class

These commitments contribute to a 2025 recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 2 nationally. The class features a blend of offensive and defensive talent, including:

  • Ty Haywood: A five-star offensive tackle from Denton, Texas, ranked as the No. 2 player at his position.
  • Dijon Lee Jr.: A five-star cornerback from California, who maintained his commitment to Alabama despite strong recruitment efforts from other top programs.

The coaching staff’s efforts during Junior Day were pivotal in strengthening relationships with these recruits and affirming their commitments. The event showcased Alabama’s facilities, coaching philosophy, and the program’s storied history, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees.
