Basketball star Angel Reese is set to return to LSU for a Chicago Sky pre-season game.
LSU will be the venue for a WNBA Preseason Game featuring the Chicago Sky and the Brazil National Team on May 2 at 7 p.m. CT in the PMAC. This event marks the return of LSU standout Angel Reese to Baton Rouge.
LSU head coach Kim Mulkey said through LSUSports.net, “We are excited to host a WNBA game in May featuring the Chicago Sky and Angel Reese. Angel played a major role in establishing our program at LSU and I know our fans are going to be excited to have her back in the PMAC. She had such a great rookie season and we can’t wait to continue to watch her thrive in the WNBA.”
Angel Reese also talked about returning to LSU for the night. She told LSUSports.net, “I’m very excited the Sky will play a preseason game at LSU. It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me. LSU was instrumental in preparing me for the WNBA and I can’t wait to hit the court in front of both Tigers and Sky fans!”
Reese had an impressive tenure at LSU, guiding the Tigers to their inaugural NCAA Championship in 2023. She established an NCAA record by achieving 34 double-doubles during the championship season. Her outstanding performance earned her the title of Most Outstanding Player in the NCAA Tournament. In her junior year, she averaged 23.0 points, 15.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.6 blocks. Following this success, Reese was recognized as the SEC Player of the Year in 2024, a three-time AP All-American from 2022 to 2024.

Reese, who played a pivotal role in leading LSU to their first NCAA Championship in 2023, expressed her excitement about the upcoming game:

Reese was selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Chicago Sky. She had an impressive rookie season, averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, and was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team. Her season was cut short in September 2024 due to a wrist injury, but she has since recovered and is preparing for her second WNBA season.
