NFL Draft Expert discusses every Georgia Bulldog in his top 50 prospects

The NFL Draft is quickly approaching, and with the Senior Bowl taking center stage this week the draft is the only thing football experts are really talking about right now.

Georgia football is very familiar with finding a lot of success in the NFL Draft, and that is expected to be the case again this year. However, NFL Draft Expert Daniel Jeremiah recentely released his top 50 prospects in this year’s draft, and there were not as many Bulldogs listed as Georgia fans would hope.

So let’s take a look at the players selected in Jeremiah’s top 50 prospects and what he had to say about these players.

Georgia Bulldogs inside top 50

EDGE Jalon Walker – 6th Overall

“Walker is a compact, powerful defender with length and explosiveness. He played both on and off the ball in the Georgia defensive scheme, but he’s at his best on the edge. As a pass rusher, he can win with pure speed, power and an explosive counter move. He’s also a weapon when used to spy the quarterback.”

EDGE Mykel Williams – 16th Overall

“Williams is a talented edge rusher with rare physical traits. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury in the opening game against Clemson and played through pain for the remainder of the season. When healthy, he has a dynamic get-off and can win early from the edge or when he’s reduced inside. He has extremely long arms and blockers struggle to get to his chest.”

Safety Malaki Starks – 33rd Overall

“Starks split his time between nickelback and safety in the Bulldogs’ defense. When he was in the slot, he showed quick feet with the ability to flip his hips and mirror underneath. To see him at his best, watch him carry a vertical route, stay in phase and high-point a deep ball against Clemson. From off coverage, he’s aggressive to squat on routes, and he’s had wins and losses because of it.”

It is a little surprising that Jeremiah only has three Bulldogs in his top 50 prospects because other NFL Draft experts have been much higher on Georgia for this year’s draft. But if Jeremiah was only going to put three Bulldogs in his top 50, then these three have to be the three selected.

At the end of the day, it would be a little surprising to only see three Bulldogs selected in the top 50 of this summer’s draft, so hopefully Jeremiah ends up being wrong and Georgia fans get to celebrate more high draft picks than this.
