Background and Early Career
Born on April 5, 2003, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Jordan Bowers began her gymnastics journey at the age of two. Her early dedication and talent led her to the junior elite level by 2016, where she competed at prestigious events such as the American Classic and the P&G National Championships. In 2018, Bowers achieved remarkable success, securing gold medals in the junior all-around, floor exercise, and team competitions at the Pacific Rim Championships. She further solidified her prowess by winning gold in the all-around, uneven bars, and floor exercise at the Pan American Championships, along with a bronze on balance beam.
Transition to Collegiate Gymnastics
After a promising start in elite gymnastics, Bowers faced challenges due to injuries, including a spinal disc herniation in 2019. These setbacks led her to retire from elite gymnastics in November 2019. Determined to continue her gymnastics career, she signed her National Letter of Intent with the University of Oklahoma on November 11, 2020, marking the beginning of her collegiate journey.
Collegiate Achievements
Since joining the Oklahoma Sooners, Bowers has made a significant impact. In her freshman year (2022), she earned NCAA first-team All-American honors on floor exercise and second-team honors on vault and bars. She also secured the Big 12 floor championship and was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. In 2023, Bowers continued to excel, earning multiple All-America honors and becoming the Big 12 all-around and floor champion. She also achieved her first career perfect 10 on bars during the Norman Regional. In 2024, she was a finalist for the Honda Sport Award and continued to dominate, earning multiple perfect 10 scores and contributing to Oklahoma’s team success.
