Bizarre moment in Duke-NC State goes viral in close Blue Devils win

Sometimes in sports, there are moments in close contests that get people sick to their stomachs with nerves over how it will end. Tonight at Camden Indoor, the figurative expression became literal.

Riding the nation’s longest winning streak, the Duke Blue Devils welcomed in-state rivals NC State to town to begin their exciting week of ACC play that will be capped off by college basketball’s top rivalry between North Carolina and Duke. The Blue Devils entered Monday night as heavy favorites to defeat the Wolfpack according to sportsbooks, but NC State brought it to within one point with less than five minutes remaining.

However, Duke star freshman Cooper Flagg put on a strong second-half performance and helped his team avoid an upset defeat. After only scoring five points in the first half, Flagg came out strong and finished with 28 points to close out the game. While another top performance by Flagg would appear to be the top story from this game, it was what happened with the other star freshman Khaman Maluach in the second half.

With the game at 63-62 and Flagg taking the ball to the basket for Duke, Maluach was seen under the basket puking, something you rarely see in basketball. This caused reactions all across the internet, as while a moment Maluach would want to forget, it was something that college basketball fans won’t forget from this season.

To add on top of that, a student from the Duke student section was seen being taken away from the bleachers after falling unconscious right after Malauch had his incident. While their fans hold the title of the Cameron Crazies, crazy was the right word to describe what happened there tonight.

Looking forward to this Saturday, Duke fans will be crazy again when they welcome the North Carolina Tar Heels and College Gameday for a wild weekend of basketball.
