Why Bronny James Didn’t Join Lakers vs. Hornets

In the Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, one popular member of the team was missing: Bronny James.

James last suit up for the Lakers in their Thursday showdown with the Boston Celtics, during which he logged nearly four minutes of game time while attempting one shot.

The eldest son of LeBron James was also not in the lineup during the Lakers’ game against the Golden State Warriors last Saturday. The Lakers listed him as out due to G League assignment.

Against the Hornets, James had a similar status for the same reason. He remains in the G League, which is not surprising since the team is in the middle of a six-game road trip.

The Lakers beat the Hornets, 112-107.

It remains to be seen when Bronny James will be called up to the Lakers once again. Considering that the Purple and Gold do not play at home again until Feb. 6, it’s safe to assume that James will be in the G League until then.

The Lakers do have a match in L.A. when they visit the Los Angeles Clippers at the Intuit Dome on Feb. 4, though. That game will also mark the end of their road trip.

James recently made waves in the G League when he dropped a career-high 31 points against the Rip City Remix. Sure enough, hopes are high that he’ll be able to maintain his hot form. The South Bay Lakers return to action on Wednesday against the Texas Legends.
