Kaden Martin, son of Tennessee football legend Tee Martin, transfers to MTSU as quarterback

Kaden Martin, the son of Tennessee football national championship quarterback Tee Martin, is switching from baseball back to football, transferring to Middle Tennessee State as a quarterback under second-year coach Derek Mason, sports information director Mark Owens confirmed.

He has not played football since his senior season in at Knoxville Catholic in 2021-22.

Kaden Martin, who originally signed to play both baseball and football with Miami n 2021, spent just one season with the Hurricanes before entering the transfer portal.

He did not appear in a football game for the Hurricanes in 2022 and had just three at-bats for the baseball team the following spring before entering the portal and committing to East Tennessee State. He ultimately did not play at ETSU.

Kaden Martin was a Perfect Game All-American during his junior season at Catholic before transferring to a Maryland private school for his senior season. He spent last summer playing baseball in the Appalachian Summer League with the Danville Otterbots.

Tee Martin, who was the quarterback for Tennessee on 1998 national championship team, was an assistant with the Vols in 2020-21. He just completed his fourth season as quarterbacks coach for the Baltimore Ravens.

At Catholic he passed for 2,605 yards and 20 touchdowns in two seasons as a starter.

He will join an MTSU quarterback room that includes returning starter Nick Vattiato, who has been the team’s full-time starter the past two seasons and has started at least one game in each of the past four seasons.

The Blue Raiders went 3-9 during Mason’s first year with the program.
