After declaring for the NFL Draft, a Texas star posts a three-word message.
Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers has officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. In his announcement, Ewers shared a heartfelt message: “With prayer and careful consideration, I’m officially declaring for the NFL Draft. Thank you. Hook ’em.”
Ewers’ decision to enter the draft comes after a notable tenure with the Longhorns, where he led the team to two College Football Playoff appearances and achieved a 21-5 record as a starter over the past two seasons. In the 2024 season, he amassed 3,472 passing yards and 31 touchdowns, bringing his career totals to 9,128 yards and 68 touchdowns since transferring from Ohio State.
Despite receiving an $8 million Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) offer to transfer for his final NCAA season, Ewers chose to declare for the NFL Draft, expressing his readiness to pursue professional opportunities. NFL scouts project him to be selected between the late first and early third rounds in the upcoming draft.
Ewers’ departure paves the way for Arch Manning, the highly touted recruit and nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning, to step into the role of the Longhorns’ starting quarterback. Manning, who saw limited action last season, is expected to lead the team under the guidance of head coach Steve Sarkisian.
In addition to Ewers, other Texas players have declared for the NFL Draft, including wide receivers Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden, offensive lineman Kelvin Banks Jr., and running back Jaydon Blue.
Ewers’ decision marks a significant transition for the Texas Longhorns as they prepare for the upcoming season with new leadership at the quarterback position.
