Detroit Lions linebacker Kelvin Sheppard is speaking out on what he believes is essential for the team’s defense to succeed.
According to Sheppard, there are several non-negotiables that the Lions must master if they want to become a dominant force on defense.
“Tackling, effort, and discipline,” Sheppard emphasized. “Those are the things that we have to have every single day. If we don’t have those things, we won’t be a good defense.”
Sheppard, a veteran linebacker, knows a thing or two about what it takes to succeed on defense. He’s played for several teams throughout his career, including the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.
The Lions’ defense has been a work in progress in recent years, but Sheppard is confident that the team has the talent and potential to become one of the best defenses in the league.
We have the players, we have the coaches, and we have the scheme,” Sheppard said. “Now it’s just a matter of putting it all together and playing with consistency.”
With Sheppard’s leadership and expertise, the Lions’ defense is poised to take a major step forward in the upcoming season.
