Bas Dost was facing AZ Alkmaar away from home when he suddenly collapsed to the floor, leading to the game being abandoned in added time.
Dost had scored one and made the other as his side NEC Nijmegen led title challengers Alkmaar 2-1 in added time.Players from both clubs were upset and many in tears as they formed a circle around Dost as he received treatment.Thankfully Dost regained consciousness and thanked the fans as he was carried off on a stretcher.
The player has since spoken via NEC’s media channels to give an update on his health and thank people for their support.
Dost appreciated his fans and well wishers at the hospital, he said via NEC’s media channels
” The help I received on the field was fantastic,I’m in the hospital now and I feel good. Thanks for all the support”.
Dost is responding to treatment and his family and fans are eager to welcome back home and see him play on the pitch again.
